PROTECTING CHILDREN'S DREAMS WITH A LITTLE LIGHT

THE NEED FOR LIGHT

In many developing countries, unreliable electricity at home forces kids to do their homework outside under street lights, compromising their attendance at school and ability to continue. These children need safe and reliable spaces to do their homework every evening.

In the Apayao region, in the Philippines, hundreds of families live in villages without access to electricity, neither in their homes nor in school. Upper Atok and Calayucay are two of the most marginalized communities with over 100 school-aged children.

CREATING SAFER ENVIRONMENTS

In collaboration with ChildFund, an NGO that helps create the safe environments children need to thrive, SC Johnson has developed the solar-power Baygon Liquid Electric lamp. Come dusk, the lamp provides much-needed light to study by, as well as protection from mosquitoes to the kids of Upper Atok and Calayucay.
